Coffee name: Colombia El Vergel Estate
Notes of: Cane sugar, almond, apple and chocolate.
Grown in: Colombia
Process: Washed process sugarcane decaf
The coffee:
Great Taste Award Winning decaf coffee. All Nott coffees are decaf processed using the Ethyl Acetate from Sugarcane method (EAFS.) This is commonly referred to as “sugarcane” or “natural’ decaf, but we think it’s really important to be transparent about the process, and not try to hide its nature behind positive-sounding labels, which could be misleading.
The Sugarcane decaf method involves steaming the beans to open them up, treating them with a solvent called Ethyl Acetate, a by-product of sugar cane processing, to remove the caffeine and then drying the beans again.
The farmers:
This coffee is sourced from the El Vergel estate in the Fresno municipality of Tolima.
This is a washed process sugarcane decaf selection of Red and Yellow Caturra varietals grown at 1450m above sea level.
Tasting notes are cane sugar, almond, apple and chocolate.
Coffee available in: Whole bean, Ground Medium (AeroPress / V60 / Chemex), Fine (espresso / moka pot), Ground Coarse (French Press / cafetière)
